Who is Guy Fawkes?

Hello to everybody!
Have you ever heard the name of Guy Fawkes?
Do you know why British people celebrate the BONFIRE NIGHT or GUY FAWKES' NIGHT on the 5th of November?
Let me just tell you sothing about this story...
During the reign of James I, on the 5th of November 1605, a man called Guy Fawkes and his friends tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament with gunpowder. Fortunately, the king's guards found the gunpowder and arrested Guy Fawkes.
In order to remember this hystorical event, in Britain the Bonfire Night or the Guy Fawkes' Night is celebrated on the 5th of November every year. People make bonfires and watch firework displays. It is usually cold so people eat jacket potatoes and hot dogs. Children like eating roast chestnuts. In the end, people make a puppet called "Guy" with old clothes and they put it at the top of the bonfire. They light up the bonfire with the puppet and the show starts!

What are you going to do for HALLOWEEN?

Hi guys!
Do you celebrate Halloween? I've never celebrated it in the typical way in which it is celebrated in Britain on the 31st of October. Maybe someday I will dress up as witch, ghost or wizard and go from house to house to ask "TRICK OR TREAT"!!! However, three years ago I prepared the famous pumpkin for Halloween. It happened when I was in Tuscany with my boyfriend and some friends for four days between the end of October and the first days of November. When we arrived there, we bought a great pumpkin, we took off all the pulp from it, we cut the skin to make the eyes and the mouth and we put a candle inside it. So, we made a lantern with the pumpkin and we put it outside the window of our flat all the night. It was funny to see all the people looking at your window!
Tomorrow I'll just have a dinner with some friend of mine but I think that nobody will come dressed up for Halloween...
Have a nice Halloween's night and be careful with sweets!
Bye!

Hello!
Thank you for visiting my blog. I really appreciate it...
This is my first experience with blogs. Previously, I have only visited a friend's blog twice but I have never sent a post or a comment. As you can imagine, I'm not so fond of Internet and using the Web is a real mess for me. In these weeks, I have had several troubles with Internet and technologies in general.
This is my first personal blog. Now it's only a draft, it's a little bit bare but I promise I will enrich it and decorate it soon adding some pictures and putting some links to interesting web-sites or other nice stuff on the web. I still have a long way to go...
My dream is that you, as a reader of my blog, could know something more about me through my blog. I'd like my blog to be like a blank picture and I'm the painter of it . And it is the painter the one who chooses which images to draw in the picture or which colours to use to fill it. In this way, by the end of this year my blog will be an image of myself.
Obviously, I would also appreciate your contributionto the fulfillment of this project: comments, questions, suggestions, remarks, anything is well accepted.
Hope you enjoy my blog!
I'm thrilling to hear something from you...

Hello everybody and WELCOME to by blog! I'm Elena Boscaro and I'm 23 years old. In my blog you will find out something about myself and the things I like. I hope you will enjoy my blog and please send me a comment if you want to tell me something or simply contribute to my personal blog!

Have fun!

Now, I'd like to tell you something about me... Just to mention something I like very much, this is a photo of a runner. I've chosen this picture first of all because running is my favourite sport and because I think that running can be somekind of metaphor for human life. I've been practising running more or less for two years and I discovered that this activity is very helpful both for my body and for my mind. What I mean is that not only does running help me to be fit but it is also a good therapy when I have some problems or worries. Running helps me to think about, to reflect on things and to make decisions and usually it is more useful than an hour of reflection in silence by my own. When I say that running is a metaphor for life, I mean that every time I run I have a specific goal to achieve (for example to add another kilometre to my way) and every time it is a new challenge to my limits as well as any new thing that happens in my life is. What is important is not to stop in the middle, you can slow down your pace if you're exhausted and then start again to run faster but you never have to stop running because start running again, after the pause, is very very difficult. I think that this can be also a good piece of advice in life!

The three web sites I suggest to you are:
http://www.times.com/
http://www.elpais.com/
http://edition.cnn.com/
These are news websites: two in English and the other one in Spanish. They are interesting because you can read news from all over the world and at the same time learn new words in a foreign language. I think also it is convenient to navigate in these web sites because the news are grouped in sections and so it is quite easy to find the topic you're interested in.
